    Default Three Gun Courses/training?

So I have been shooting shotguns (trap, skeet, 5stand, etc) competitively for a while now and looking to get into doing a little bit more of the “all encompassing” competitions. I’m thinking about getting into the 3-Gun realm. Is there anywhere that offers classes or somewhere I can go to just go through the motions and train without everyone losing their minds? Any and all info is appreciated.

Probably counterproductive but for me a live match is my practice.

Familiarize yourself with the rules, be familiar with the safe and proficient operation of your weapons, and show up to a match and have fun.

    This.

Most of the matches I have been at will give first timers a huge time penalty so they cannot be in the running for placing, and can focus on learning the rules, the safety requirements, etc.

It'd be worth finding a match near you, and getting involved. Go watch one first if you would rather. You can get an idea of the holsters, gear, PPE, etc that guys bring for these matches, and then go from there.
Most matches are always looking for volunteers to help with taping, resetting a stage, etc. So you would be most welcome to go watch and learn, or you can go to shoot and start by focusing on learning the requirements.

Naw ... not counterproductive at all. Best training for competitive shooting is just to get out there and do it.

You'll find that the people you'll meet at the match are every bit as helpful as an instructor would be.

Ben Lomond's next 3 Gun match is March 10th. For other competitions they let first timers shoot the comp for free but you'd have to contact them to find out on this one:

Pueblo starts up our Tactical Rifle matches in March. Fourth Sunday.

Bring a few mags and 150-200 rounds.

Noco 3 Gun at Pawnee runs a match once a month year round.

I was a first timer and just went out to shoot. It was great fun.

Yep, hit PW or CRC for some rifle experience, maybe a uspsa match for pistol.

If on Facebook look for Dave Hartman of The 3-Gun Show and or check his podcasts. I know he does hold classes from time to time as do several of the local match directors.

Like the OP, I’ve tried to find someone who could do a few one on one 3 gun lessons. Not everyone likes to wing it and show up to a match without practice. I’m amazed that no one local offers private 3 gun training running through a course for those willing to pay.

MarkCO teaches, or taught, basic 3Gun training. I found it worth the time and money.
