Two lawmakers say they've been walking the Colorado Capitol in fear and wearing bullet proof vests for weeks out of fear of retaliation by another member. Reps. Alec Garnett (D-Denver) and Matt Gray (D-Broomfield) both said they are afraid of what Rep. Steve Lebsock (D-Thornton) might do to get back at them for pursuing his expulsion from the Colorado House of Representatives.

Now isn't that special. I thought the D's were the party of understanding, tolerance and compassion.

Have not watched local news in over a year. Live 2 hrs away in the sticks. Got tired of all the crap. Now they know what it’s like to be in fear and perhaps feeling a tad helpless. Kinda like why those of us like to be armed. Instead of body armor, a hand gun would make more sense. Oops, the Capitol is a “gun-free zone.”

Rep. Alec Garnett, the assistant House majority leader from Denver, and Rep. Matt Gray, D-Broomfield, told the House chamber about the precaution they have taken during Friday’s hearing before Rep. Steve Lebsock was expelled on a 52-9 vote.Lebsock, a Thornton Democrat, is accused of sexually harassing several women. His Democratic colleagues were pushing for his ejection.

Garnett, a Democrat, said he was specifically concerned about violence from Lebsock. “He threatened to ‘take me down,’ ” Garnett told The Denver Post.

He added: “I fear for retaliation. I am in the chamber of the House of Representatives, and I’m wearing a bulletproof vest because I fear retaliation for telling the truth and standing up for victims of sexual harassment. I’ve been wearing it for three weeks.”

The Colorado State Patrol, which provides security for the Capitol, said it had received no reports of specific threats made against lawmakers related to the sexual harassment scandal or expulsion vote.

Hmm.... So they bought and regularly wear body armor but didn't tell LE of these threats? Wouldn't that be the first thing a person does?
