Default Idaho "Stand Your Ground" Law Advances

The Idaho legislature is well on the way to passing a very strong "stand your ground" law. It codifies long-standing legal precedent in the state.

The new law assumes people act reasonably when defending their homes and assumes anyone unlawfully entering does so with the intent to commit a felony. It also extends the protections to businesses and vehicles. The new law defines a dwelling to include temp structures such as tents as well and puts the burden on the prosecution to prove a person defending home or property under the law acted unreasonably.

The state sheriff's association fully supports the law. I'm looking forward to seeing it pass.

    SB-1313

Good to know that you can use lethal force in the protection of your mistress in Idaho.

Or your "master and servants". I have no idea where that came from. Some obscure legal precedent I'm sure.

I wonder what law enforcement that were involved with Ruby Ridge think of this law.

Considering Idaho passed laws years ago stating state law preempts federal on gun issues my guess is they don't give a rat's are what the feds think or how they feel. Feds aren't real popular here...with anyone.

If I didn't have to drive back to Wichita once or twice a year, I'd really consider relocating to ID. We actually looked at Boise before choosing Colorado Springs. But at this point I really like the idea of Coeur d'Alene.

Idaho seems to be on the right track. With good hunting, fishing, and conservative views, I'm looking between Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho to relocate to.

Hopefully y'all can keep Idaho free. When I was up there 3 years ago it seemed just like Colorado.

^^ How, exactly, was Idaho just like Colorado? Just curious.
