Rough times
A good friend doesn't have much time left on this earth and has asked me to make sure his few firearms get dispersed to a select list of folks. Met yesterday with him and his ex, they have a decent relationship though I had never met her before. She wanted to be reassured that he left this to someone who could be trusted. It's all laid out in his will and final instructions. Went throught a similar deal in 2012 when my best friend passed unexpectedly and his widow was overwhelmed. That friend had his ffl but it had expired. When I called the local ATF office I was put in touch with an agent that coincidentally had done his home inspections, he was truly shaken by the news. He arranged a time to come to the house to pick up the log books/4473s without us having to box them up and ship to the warehouse.
Rough times for sure. This latest guy is a real good guy. Lover of freedom, this country, fine women, motorcycles and quality firearms. No children but very close friends and a brother so he listed the items, when/where purchased and who gets what. I'm hoping the time is longer than shorter but I was taken aback when I saw him yesterday-fading pretty fast.
Knowing that I can help in this small way will make the transition a bit smoother for him and his family and I'm honored he asked me to do so. The worst part was when he said he didn't think it'd end this way, rest brother-we got this.
Just had to get that off my chest.
