Default Shooting at Great Mills High School in Maryland, school confirms

Great start to a Tuesday morning and definitely not going to help anything right now:

Great Mills High School in Maryland was on lockdown after a shooting on Tuesday morning, school officials confirmed.

The incident was contained and the St. Mary's Sheriff's Office was on the scene, the school said on its website. Maryland State Police also told Fox News they were responding to the incident. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were also heading to the scene.

The Sheriff's Office warned parents to not "respond to the school" but instead go to Leonardtown High School, where students will be transported.
NBC Washington reported multiple injuries, but that was not immediately confirmed by authorities.

Special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives [ATF] are traveling to the school to investigate the incident.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted Tuesday that his office is “closely monitoring the situation at Great Mills High School.”
“Maryland State Police is in touch with local law enforcement and ready to provide support. Our prayers are with students, school personnel, and first responders,” Hogan wrote.

The school is located about 60 miles from Washington, D.C.
The incident comes more than a month after the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. That massacre, carried out by a former student, left 17 people dead.
This is a breaking news story. Check back for updates.

Impossible. The People's Republic of Maryland has some of the toughest gun laws in the Country. The gun grabbers have specifically said if we all had laws like Maryland then this wouldn't happen.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

I woke up to the news talking to a student inside the building. I had just woken up so wasn't really absorbing much but I thought he was saying seven injured. It seemed to be over and I was under the impression that law enforcement was there and the kid had to go so he could leave the building. Sorry in advance if any of that was muddled by being half asleep.

With the way the media is I'm afraid that there will be a rash of copycat shootings in the future.

Some studies have shown that these shootings occur when the media hype from the last one fades. The shooters are looking for recognition in the various news media. I wish the media would quit publishing their names. I also wish these people would get mental health help before they lash out and innocents are hurt.

News is saying that it was ended by a school resource officer that shot the shooter. Which has to be fake news, as I’ve been lead to believe that armed personnel wouldn’t/couldn’t stop a school shooter.

Very true, and perhaps under-appreciated as it applies to mass shootings. Suicide clustering is a well-documented phenomenon, particularly among teens. I've started to wonder if many of these school mass shooters are a subset of the same group at risk of suicide in the first place; young people who are unable to cope with external factors and challenges, and looking to 'solutions' based on application of under-developed judgment and decision making in response to social and cultural inputs. Whatever one thinks of armed guards or teachers, where are the calls to put more mental or behavioral health counselors in schools?

As I've said, the media pimps school shooting with black rifles. They regularly message if you have a grievance and want validation to grab an AR and murder as many people as you can.

As a reward they put the monster's name in lights and picture on the front page for two weeks as they reinforce their existing anti-gun narratives and test new ones. The disturbed kid who offs himself doesn't even make the news. The kid who shoots up his school is remembered every time there is an anti-gun story/statistics/"do something" opinion piece.

The Little Monsters get relevance and the media gets talking points. It's a symbiotic relationship and it's sick.

They need to stop reporting the names of the shooters...but they don't.

Maryland teen wounds two at school, dies after gunfight with officer

Sheriff Cameron said Rollins pulled out a Glock semiautomatic handgun around 7:55 a.m. (1155 GMT) in a hallway and shot the students.

The attack, which lasted less than a minute, ended after the school resource officer, Deputy 1st Class Sheriff Blaine Gaskill, ran inside the building and confronted Rollins, with both firing a single shot almost simultaneously.

The officer was not harmed, Cameron said. Rollins was confirmed dead at 10:41 a.m. (1441 GMT) after being taken to a hospital.
I wonder where the kid got the AR-15 Glock?

Probably got it online, delivered to his house with no background check..

    DUH!

Either that or the NRA sent it directly to him at home for free, because that's what they do.
