    Default Leftover black powder rounds

I was doing some early spring cleaning and I found my cowboy action rig still had some 45LC black powder rounds in the loops. What's the best way to dispose of them?

I don't have a press mounted bullet puller and I know I'm not going to put them in a hammer puller, so I can't separate out the powder. I no longer have the dies, so I can't de-prime them even if I did pull the bullets. Don't have the revolvers anymore, so I can't just shoot them.

It's only about 5 rounds. Suggestions?

Purchase a new gun to shoot them in.

Problem solved! I have regretted not keeping one of the two revolvers ever since.

Worst case, clamp the bullet end in a vise, use a tubing cutter to cut the cases in half, and dispose of the powder. Soak the primers in oil to deactivate, and send them out with the trash. I think buying a new gun to dispose of them sounds like a better idea, though.

I'm starting to see a consensus here. Now to figure out how to phrase this for my wife. "Lives are at stake...the only way to safely dispose of this is to fire it at a shooting range. I didn't know that when I sold the Vaqueros. I'm just going to have to buy a new gun, sweetie. My mistake."

Someplace might have one, but every place I've been that rents guns require you to use their ammo in it. I can't imagine anyone letting you put hand loads into their rental guns.

If anyone wants them for components, they have Goex 3Fg in them and Big Lube bullets from Whyte Leather Works. .45 PRS (250 grain sized to .452 .454 and lubed).
