KSG shotgun

PSA had them on sale for $799 (I think) about a month ago and that price included either 3 or 5 stripped lowers. I thought that was a pretty good deal...but I'm not really interested in a KSG.

Bought one in June 2013, sold at a big loss last year.

CONS: Clunky, feels cheap, slide action not smooth like a Rem 870 or Win 1300.

PROS: Short, holds lots of shells.

Once I went to a quality semi-auto, I just didn't enjoy a pump shotgun.

Mossberg 835 with an extra long barrel for duck & gooses. I love roast duck. Or add a slug barrel for slug things, like deer! 3 1/2" buck for home defense is a bit over overkill, but it will handle it. I think the KSG is cool though, it looks really bad ass.

Oh yeah, I lived in Cocoa for a few years, that's where they make 'em.

PS. I use the short barrel for the house, it comes with 2 barrels.

Vepr 12 and KSG have similar base prices, both around $750

While I would like to get a KSG, if the prices are similar, the Vepr 12 is the way to go. At least for the fun factor.

If you like clunky shotguns, go for it. An 870 or 590 will do the trick, even a 500.

I have a Mossy 500 with a ported 18" and a magpul stock that I am using now. Slides amazing, and shoots very well.

I can get my hands on an KSG for about $800 flat. I like the Saiga and that Vepr 12 looks pretty similar. From what I am gathering, the KSG is more of a novelty gun. Fun to shoot, but not necessarily good for any practical reason such as hunting, clays, or home defense. Thank you guys for your thoughts. After hearing this, I don't think I will pick on up.

The saiga is great, but the Vepr is better in every way I can think of. It uses a billet bolt, not cast. Hinged top cover with pic rail, self regulating gas, last round bolt hold open...

While you're right that it is certainly a novelty gun, I disagree that it wouldn't serve as a good home defense gun. Better than an 870 or 500? Not unless you end up with a while bunch of bad guys coming through the door. But it could be used as a fine home defense shotgun should one want to use it as such.

That said, mine lives in the safe and comes out for fun. Fun guns deserve some loving too.
