Default is this gap a problem?

I noticed when taking pictures for the SBR thread. There seems to be a pretty decent gap between the end of the upper and the beginning of the hand guard on this rifle. To recap this is a KAC SR-15. It was hard to get pictures of it but I think you'll see what I'm seeing. Should I fix or have this fixed? Or is this the way it's supposed to be?

Judging by pictures of other SR-15 rifles it looks normal.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure, kinda thought that shouldn't be there.

People not liking that gap is the reason several makers came out with the monolothic uppers that have the rail/handguard and upper made from a single piece of metal.

It doesn't bother me, just didn't know if it was supposed to be that way. I have a couple of the LMT uppers that are monolithic, they're pretty nice but a bit heavy.

Mine i believe has a gap too, not too worried about it. Nice rifle.
