Two Gilchrist Deputies Assassinated Through Restaurant Window

Two Gilchrist County Deputies were fatally shot in Trenton on Thursday.

Trenton, FL - Two Gilchrist county deputies were murdered on Thursday after a gunman fatally shot them through a restaurant window.



Gilchrist Sheriff Bobby Schultz released a statement saying that the two deputies were inside of the Ace China restaurant in Trenton at around 3:00 p.m.

A gunman approached the building and opened fire on the two deputies through a window in an ambush attack.



The deputies died on scene.



News4Jax reports that the suspect then walked back to his vehicle and fatally shot himself.



No other suspects are believed to be associated at this time, and the motive for the shooting has not been released.



Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi released a statement which said, "My heart breaks with the tragic news of two Gilchrist County deputies that were senselessly killed today while in the line of duty. The daily risk that law enforcement officers take to protect our communities is overwhelming. My deepest condolences and prayers are with their families as they mourn the devastating loss of their loved ones. May their families, friends and fellow officers find peace and comfort during this very difficult time."

not that it matters, BUT I heard this morning that the shooter did NOT shoot the officers through the window. The shooter actually entered the establishment and shot them, and then turned the gun on himself.

The official story about how two Florida sheriff's deputies were gunned down in a Chinese restaurant shifted slightly Friday when a deputy standing in for Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz announced that they were shot inside the eatery — not through the window as officials first reported.
