You are correct, the people in Sterling are a half bubble out of plumb. I still have relatives there. I was born there but was lucky enough to get out of there in 1966. That’s when my dad got a job here and we moved to the metro Denver area. Most of the people my age that stayed there didn't have much to do to stay out of trouble. Also not the first crazy criminal story out of Sterling/Morgan county I've heard lately. Seems like several of these small towns out east are kinda sketchy. I know it seems like half the population of Sterling is on social security disability/SSI. And I'm usually on edge as soon as I hear someones from there as I'd say 3/4 of my people acting up and getting stupid are from out there. (Usually whining about the 3 hour drive (try 1-1.5hrs I have gps liars.) when they couldnt follow simple instructions on previous visits that were repeated to them multiple times.

I grew up in sterling through junior college. It is a suffocating town. My folks made a decent life for themselves, but i have no desire to go back even for a visit. Yes, the water tastes bad there. I always saId it was runoff from the cattle feed lots.
