    Default Beyond help in Golden

I registered with you fellows after reading BigTexasOne and his problems with MJ Tulo Gunmakers back in April. I was having problems getting a gun returned after Mr. Tulowitski restocked my LC Smith shotgun.. I delivered the gun to his shop in Lakewood in July of 2016 and was promised it would be done by November 2016. Work and family got in the way and I finally called him in Aug.2017 to see if I could get the gun for a hunt in South Dakota. No problem as he was getting readt to put the finish on it. Well, we missed September but he promised to have it done for Colorado pheasant season opening.
That's when he had to go to Atanta for his daughter. In the meantime, I found another ph. number for him and contacted him in January 2018. Then we started to set pick up dates. 15 dates, 15 excuses for why he couldn't make it. Haven't heard from him since Mar.30.
I then found this site and BigTexasOnes same situation. The following day, I called Lakewood PD and reported my gun stolen by Mr. Tulowitzki. They have assigned a case number and have a detective working on the case. There are two more people that I know of that are in the same boat. I haven't heard back from the PD.
Thought I'd post just to let everyone know that there is a still a problem out there.

Sucks to hear. Leslie actually got his Browning back, after I and a couple of other members did some leg work. A call to the ATF might be a good idea in your case as well.

Now that you saw the end result of the other thread looks like you skipped all the other work and jumped to the important part of getting the authorities involved.

I had called the ATF Denver office before I called the police. The agent said to get a police case number and if I hadn't heard anything back to give him a call back in a couple months. At this point, I doubt if I ever see my shotgun again, but Mr. Tulowitzki needs to have some federal heat applied to him.

Even if they can't help you directly, I'm sure enough complaints will get a review of his FFL and possibly lead to revocation. This might save others the headaches you are going through. I'd suggest you keep up with it for those reasons.

I'm guessing he's already waist deep in sh!t because he didn't file the change of address with ATFE...

I'm sorry you are going through that. Having worked in various shops in various states and places as a gunsmith I hate hearing about these situations. This the stuff that destroys customer trust. I've moved to places and looked for gunsmithing jobs and heard about similar situations with local shops and avoided all contact or involvement with them. I cannot fathom how a shop(or usually a shop owner) could be this negligent and/or straight-up criminal and dishonest. Even if there are extenuating circumstances it is unacceptable. When you deal in something as controlled as firearms you don't have the luxury of life getting in the way. Like MrAK said, ATF ain't no one to jack with. Hopefully it will result in an FFL revocation, raid and seizure of firearm assets and your shotgun will be returned. You never know, I've known people who've received guns from local law enforcement years after stuff goes missing. The process is certainly surprisingly slower than you would expect from the BATFE.

Your not a lone, a few years back it took the ATF to recover my Colt model 70 1911.
The guy had it 2 years for what was suppose to be a 3 week swapping out the sights repair. ATF told me he had guns in there 8 plus years from not returning repairs.
