Intuit goes anti-gun and shuts down business accounts

Here's some interesting news for those that use QuickBooks, Quicken, TurboTax, or any Intuit product.



Intuit QuickBooks Severs Ties with Gunsite Academy, Reverses Tens of Thousands in Credit Card Charges.

Tens of thousands of dollars in sales of products and classes, paid for in good faith, that Intuit has refused to release. Instead, Intuit stated they would refund those monies to the credit card holders.

The transfer in question wasn’t for firearms, it was a separate business transaction. I’ll state that again: it had nothing to do with either components or complete firearms. The total amount of the three transfers: $150,000.

The money was withdrawn from Lone Wolf’s account by Intuit within thirty minutes. In accordance with standard business practices, it should have been deposited into Flint River’s account with relative speed. Instead, there was no sign of a pending deposit. Instead Intuit abruptly terminated Flint River’s merchant account.

Oh, this is a HUGE lawsuit in the making.

It's one thing if they gave advance notice of pending actions, but to interfere with a legal merchants good faith business activity without notice - I predict this will definitely go to the courts, perhaps as a class action suit.

Moral of the story: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. I do my bookkeeping with one vendor, tax accounting with another, banking with a third(and fourth), and card processing with another, and credit with yet another. There's no way a dispute with one company is going to ruin my business.

Dirty little secret is that Quickbooks is utter shit. Having spent the last few years maintaining computers running Quickbooks Enterprise and Quickbooks Point of Sale I can tell you that their software is crap. Its unstable, poorly coded crap that doesn't even follow Microsoft's software design guidelines so every update of itself or Windows is a nail biting exercise and when something inevitably goes wrong its hours of time (if not a couple of days of downtime) on hold waiting for Habib to rattle instructions to you in pidgin english that may or may not actually work. Often it means you have to waste a few days dicking with their software only to just have to pony up the cash for the latest version just to get it to work.

So maybe this will allow an opening for a decent software company to make a competing product that is actually worth a shit.

I would hope a State or US Attorney General would be able to find some felony charges and violations of the U.S. Code along with some Dept. of Commerce violations as well, because this was 100% pre-meditated, planned and carried out.

This is 100% truth! Every single word. At least it was 10 years ago when I was"helping" a buddy who was running his business by it. Now, of course, they want everyone to sign up for the cloud version so they can nickel and dime you to death.

Time to dump Turbo Tax. I have used it for several years. Won't support business that discriminate against lawful business, merchandise (gun etc...) etc....

Any recommendations on what is a good replacement tax software?

Every business I know of that uses Intuit for their credit card processing has been shafted at one time or another. In my industry it’s common for us to receive maybe one or two payments from clients for goods and services per month but sometimes those payments can be in the realm of tens of thousands of dollars. I’ve heard horror stories of Intuit holding payments and freezing accounts due to large charges when they have been told that anlarge charge was coming through. I’ve even heard of them some how back charging the vendors attached savings account as a form of collateral putting the business in a situation where their account has been emptied with no way to pay other vendors or their employees.

Any service offered by Intuit other than the hard disc version of Quickbooks has been on my don’t go near list for as long as I’ve been in business, way too many horror stories.
