    Default BLM shooting

    http://www.nbc11news.com/content/new...483825121.html

Sunday, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.
It happened around 2:45 p.m. in the desert near the Bookcliffs and 27 1/4 Road.
An initial investigation shows two officers were contacting a white van in the desert when the shooting happened, the sheriff's office said in a press release.
One BLM officer was shot, taken to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to be OK, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said one officer returned fire and the suspect was killed.
The suspect's identity will come from the Mesa County Coroner's Office once the family is notified.
The 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is looking for information about the white van and suspect. Anyone who saw or had contact with a white van in that area of the desert in the last few days is asked to call (970) 244-3526.
The 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is made up of several law enforcement agencies in the Grand Valley.

I'm going to watch this. After the thread about outlaw campers and such. Glad to hear the officer made it through as well as he did.

I am so confused. When I first read the title I read it as Black Lives Matter shooting, not Bureau of Land Management shooting. The first would have been extremely unusual in Grand Junction. Glad the officer will recover.

Bummer. I know of a BLM ranger in the GJ area who regularly carries an AR15 when making contacts, and a local CPW officer who totes an AR10. They go prepared to encounter the low life elements who make camp in the desert areas to cook meth and deal whatever. It's not all sagebrush and meadowlarks out there.

Was kinda funny on the radio covering the bear story with the kid in GJ. Where it came out that the kid was camping outside alone at that age (I'd say it's a bit different there than a fenced yard in Westminster or something)

But Jaime thought it was so nice or whatever then they got like 5 callers in a row letting them know how bad the crime and drug stuff is out there.

Shiat!! You are still alive because of a vest. That is some heady stuff.

West Mag gets full of transients this time of year. I always carry. Looks like "carrying" will be kicked up a notch.
