I realize this is a bit old, but thought a couple of you would appreciate this. 10mm 200 gr Beartooth hardcast out of a G40, about 1300 FPS. Full penetration and not recovered. It is my woods carry/camp pistol.
As for the 40 decline, not because it is ballistically inferior, the recoil is manageable except for all the new snowflakes coming of age.

Had a 10mm gen 3 G20, with a Wolf barrel, for a couple of years and love it. Say Delta Elite 10mm and I'm ecstatic. And I still like .40s.

10mm fills a real niche that 40 just doesn’t. 40 is great for CCW or even HD needs but 10mm is an excellent caliber for a woods gun if you don’t like revolvers. I’ve got a Glock 20 and I love it.
I actually recently snatched up my first .40 because it was so cheap. I got a LNIB HK p30 for $400 and felt like I got a really good deal. I’ve seen a ton of super cheap deals on 40 S&W pistols these days. After shooting 10mm for a few years as well as having a 357 Sig, shooting 40 seems really mild.
