Default MacVan Maps going out of business

Well, it looks like we've finally hit the end of the road and will be closing our doors at the end of March. We were the last map store in Colorado (when Boulder Map Gallery closed a few months ago).

So we'll be doing some sort of going-out-of-business sale (I'll post here when it happens) but if you're needing maps you should get them now while the getting is good.

We've currently got Globes on 25% off, but to be honest we'd be willing to take offers on those. Also we have most of the Colorado USGS 7.5 minute quad maps in stock and what we don't have in stock we can print while you wait.

Anyone has any questions feel free to PM me or just ask in this thread.

I've been the Creative Director for MacVan Maps for the last 14 years (well the 15th of next month it'll be 14 years ... my how I've wasted my life ) So if anyone needs a graphic designer with 25 years experience let me know (I'm looking in the springs and don't really want to commute to Denver).

Oh and I asked the mods about posting this and got the okee-dokee from them (since this is basically a commercial post).

This has been a long time coming, based on your posts over the years. Sorry to hear you're back in the job market again.

Sad to hear. I’m kind of a map geek.

Sucks to have to close a business that has been your life.

Sorry to hear the news. Everyone seems to have moved away from brick and mortar to online sales.

I wish you the best and hope you land on your feet. Who knows, maybe it'll be a positive transition in the grand scheme.

That is a drag. I've spent a lot of hours in that store fiddling with maps.

Me too. I've loved maps ever since I was old enough to read them.

Sorry to hear about this. Yes, with digital maps it seems to be the way of the world, but it's still sad to see.

A few years back I was going on an off road trip and stopped by the Denver Federal Center's map warehouse to get some maps - only to find that they closed the commercial map sales business some time around 2013. They still have maps but they don't sell them, they are for government agencies/military etc. No public access.

BTW am I the only one here who hoards his collection of old maps, especially road maps? For some reason, I CANNOT throw away a map unless it's completely shredded or trashed.

I love looking at old road maps from the pre-interstate era. Very different world back then.

Do you guys have military style/UTM maps of the local area and/or GMU 50/500/501?

Sorry to hear that. I should wander over and look at your globes and Mercator projections.

Thanks for all the condolences ... we've seen this coming for the last year (although we had a couple of chances to come out on top that didn't pan out).

Forgot to mention that we're at Garden of the Gods at Forge (on the south side of the road behind Jimmy Johns)

    we're open 8:30 - 5:30 M-F and 9-5 on Sat.

And if you ask for me, ask for Mike (because most of y'all can't pronounce Zundfolge )
