Default Light coolored wood (Maple) on rifles......Not sure why this appeales to Me.

Not sure why I am drawn to Maple wood stocks vs the typical darker wood stocks but I really want this....... Now to stop myself from buying it in .264 Win Mag and get it in 7mm Rem Mag

    Mod 70 Super Grade Maple.

I agree! When I was younger a girl friend's dad had a .270 Weatherby with a light stock that was his favorite hunting rifle. He let me shoot a couple of rounds through it when I went with him to the range prior to hunting season-ouch lol! One of the most beautiful rifles I've ever seen.

    I like it.

If I hadn't sworn off of wood/blued/polished firearms, I would happily own something like that.

I agree the light woods look nice. I just can’t justify having a pretty rifle. I’d be afraid to ding it.

One of my many regrets is selling an un-issued Enfield No4 Mk2 with blonde furniture.

Love that Winchester with the maple. You're not alone in its appeal.

During WWII, the Swiss had a shortage of walnut for manufacturing K31 rifles so they made some stocked in beech which sometimes was attractive. I have a sporterized Swedish Mauser that is stocked in a maple that my father originally made from a blank.

This is a Remington 552 Speedmaster that I bought from a pawn shop and restored. I had two of them and this one had the blonde stocks. It came out pretty good I think.

Light-colored wood reminds me of my childhood home; we had tongue-in-groove paneling. There's something nostalgic about the light color and the markings of the grain.
