In a potential civil war (which, BTW, I think is already ongoing in a low-grade, mostly non-violent way) the left already controls the vast majority of media outlets. This is a tremendous advantage as the media is sympathetic to the goals and ideals of the left and already tries to advance them at every turn. It's not likely the message from the right is going to get anything near equal time.

The left may not control the military nor may most military members be sympathetic to their various causes. But, by and large, military members follow orders. Those orders can easily be given in such a way as to make the military people think what they're doing is right. This is also why controlling the media is helpful. I can easily envision a civil-war scenario where the military unwittingly sides with the left due to the propaganda they've been fed.

They also control the education system which is extremely important for long-term indoctrination of the population to their agenda. Why do you think there's a never-ending supply of leftists? It will take decades to win back the education system to the right and it doesn't even seem like that's started yet. So this is something we definitely won't see in our lifetimes, maybe not even in our children's lifetimes.

Another civil war isn't gonna be like, "Let's go out and shoot some leftists today. We own all the guns and bullets so this'll be easy." It's being fought in schools, newsrooms and local/state level elections. And the right may not be winning enough.
