Veteran or AD Military??? Are you an "Extremist"?

This is a link to what I consider to be a very disgusting article by Rob Waters of the Southern Poverty Law Center...a group I consider to be composed of leftist extremists.

Waters doesn't have anything nice to say about the military or the "Oath Keepers". I thought the left was the side advocating tolerance. Guess not.

Yeah...what a horrible group. Who in their right mind would resist efforts to undermine the Constitution or follow unlawful orders?

BTW...here are the "10 Orders":

1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.
2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people
3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.
4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.
5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control."

I guess I don't really see a problem with them. Of course, I count myself among those extremist miltary veterans and civilian police officers he bad-mouths.

I have a hard time believing that the military is going to take Rob Waters seriously on this. The group doesn't meet the criteria for extremists, terrorists, or even misguided... The list of 10 orders would be illegal anyway as far as I can tell. I really can't see anything in this groups philosophies that contradicts any of the military branches core values. The article doesn't point out any evidence of anti-govt activity. It just states that there is some. OK, what was it?

If he thinks patches are proof, then I'm one guilty som'bitch. I wore a Molon Labe, Face Towards Enemy, and Embrace the Suck patches at various times while in Iraq. The Embrace the Suck patch stayed on my kit for the entirety of my last tour. I had to explain the Molon Labe one too often so bagged it.

SPLC is stretching IMO. The criteria the military uses to determine prohibited activities is well quoted in the article, and they don't meet the criteria. I just retired, and have never heard of this group. Considering how vocal I was on my personal stances, I would have to believe I would have been approached by this group if it was as wide spread as Waters makes it sound. It never happened. This reeks of a reporter stretching to try and make a story.

When written out in English, I didn't recognize "Molon Labe" at all. But as soon as I typed it into Wikipedia and saw the carving, I recognized it right away. I still didn't know what it meant though, so I just read up on it instead of asking you. I should get a patch like that as well. Nice info.

So anyone who is willing to defend The People from The Government is an extremist? Yeah, I guess our Founding Fathers were extreme. I remember taking an oath to defend The Constitution of the United States, even if that meant opposing a corrupt government or refusing an unlawful order. I see no problems here. Any American soldier or govt agent who would deny the people of their constitutional rights is the enemy, period.
