I came across a bit of history that wasn't highlighted in history class. Evidently, prior to the declaration, the Brits erected a statue of King George in New York.
On July 9, 1776, the colonists tore the statue down and carted it away to melt it down to make musket balls.

In light of this historical event, I think we should start a new Independence Day tradition: we should exchange gift boxes of ammunition with our friends and loved ones.
