    Default Devil's Head defensive shooting

What's the world coming to when thugs can't thug in the mountains?

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, authorities there were notified of a carjacking that happened in El Paso County around 2 p.m. The suspect, a 29-year-old man, drove the stolen vehicle into the Pike National Forest while shooting at passing vehicles.

He ultimately stopped the vehicle and approached a camper. Deputies say that began a confrontation, and the suspect pointed a rifle at the camper, who returned fire, hitting the suspect multiple times.

Guess I need to be condition yellow all the time these days, even when out "relaxing". Good job on the camper for being alert and prepared! Waiting to hear the details on this one.

How does one restrain yourself and not kill the MFer that tried to kill you?

I hope I never face that situation, cause I dont think I could stop without his brains splattered all over.

When you put a couple of rounds into someone, that's pretty much a BIGDEAL for the ordinary citizen. He thinks that the job is done. Unfortunately in this case, modern medicine and paramedics can spoil an otherwise good job.

And frankly, the average citizen does not really need to go through the experience of actually successfully killing someone. Its not something some people do well with on their conscience.

This statement certainly seems like something a prosecutor might use against you, should you ever be in a defensive shooting.

Glad to hear that was resolved expediently and efficiently. Good work to the camper, thanks for taking care of that.

Every time I've heard a story like this, the comment of "why didn't he just kill him?!" usually shows up in one form or another. It's easy to think about from afar, but I think people don't realize how hard it is to kill someone. I mean emotionally. I heard some similarly story recently, and in the end I'm pretty confident that the victim doesn't dwell on why he didn't kill the guy, but is probably relieved that he doesn't have to live with that on his conscience the rest of his life.
