As a nation maybe, but the existence of the US as a safe place for Christianity matters or this wouldn't be happening. Gun rights has an important role in religious (ideological) freedom too.

And the Christians in China are at odds with the Communist government so these are not necessarily the same.

I agree with you that the USA has turned it's collective back on God.

I, personally, believe that the rise of liberal extremism that we see in the US today is the righteous and fair judgement placed upon the USA for our collective choices.
