FN-different grades?

A friend recently picked up a FN Carbine from Gunbuyer for under $800. He said he was told that these have a different quality barrel and furniture than the previous models. From what I could find I can't tell the difference. Anyone have any more info or experience?

Still didn’t get much info as to the close to $700 difference between the two carbines. My friend is happy with his choice, will be used mostly for home defense and occasional classes.
