    Default 90 in a 65

How much trouble am I in? I haven't had a ticket in a long time.

Mandatory court date is a long ways off due to Corona shutdowns the officer said I could try to ask for a Skype type conference or ask to have it moved up to the first available date.

Considering you're more than 20 over. You're doing ok.

Well, one of mine, 118 in a 55 was dropped to 2 pts defective vehicle as i needed my dl to commute.

If it's your first in that long. Probably max fine with a recommendation for driving class. But with todays health scares. Who knows , push the da in to a 2 pt defective vehicle along with the deferred 1 yr good behavior

I believe that's a 6 point ticket. Over 21, I believe 12 points in 12 months means you're going in front of the judge. Ask the city attorney if there's anything you can do to get the points down. They may even offer you a deferred sentence with 1 year of no violations.

Ok I've played the "defective vehicle" thing before. Pretty sure that's every moving violation I've had. Just making sure nothing has changed.

My first question would be what in the hell the officer was doing running radar in the first place? Isn?t he concerned that making traffic stops could put him at risk for that corona thing?

I got an 83 in a 55 just outside of Castle Rock about a year ago. I was coming down an on ramp from a dead stop and I thought the highway below was 65 so I was going 73 to blend in, easier to slow down than speed up, at the traffic lanes. Turns out the speed limit was 55. The cop was going the opposite direction on the highway as I merged on the highway. He turned around and followed me from four cars back for about five miles before stopping me. I went to pretrial willing to plead guilty to 73 in a 55, they would not accept anything under 79 in a 55. So, it was a 6 point violation and $150. This was my only ticket in the last 3 plus years.

I was so pissed that I have raised all my engineering prices requiring me to physically go into Douglas County by 10% as an “Unfair access charge”. So, if houses cost more to buy in DC you can partially blame the CHP and the court system.

As someone who has spent many days in court, if you have a clean driving record, your ticket will be reduced significantly (if wasn’t in a construction zone). I’ve had many reckless driving tickets reduced to less than half with a shitty driving record.
