Default Talk about somebody who needed a concealed carry gun...

At about 7:15am Wednesday, I was walking my dog Berreta alone on our regular loop on the Platte River Trail...
    https://www.9news.com/article/news/c...n/73-577738341

A homeless man and known sex offender who has been sought by the Denver Police Department since March is now in custody for allegedly pulling a woman into the bushes just off the South Platte River trail in Littleton and assaulting her.
    YAY TRANSIENTS!

This woman need a Beretta, and not a Berreta. The following is rather poignant...

I had no choice at that point but to run for my life as fast as I could, unfortunately without my dog. I made it to the bike path almost completely naked screaming for help. I’m so thankful there were people around that ultimately were able to protect me. A man on a bike chased him down and was able to restrain him until police arrived.
I bet the man was either armed and/or definitely NOT a snowflake!

I run that trail a lot, but usually South of Belleview, I'm betting this was North of Belleview, as I rarely see any homeless where I go, and they have many "camps" further North. Either way, this guy wouldn't have liked for me to run (no pun intended) into this situation.

Do you think you'd be able to resist checking your heart rate while holding him for police?

I got confused with the news reporting on the rescue by the bike rider.
The CBS 4 News reporter said one biker followed the suspect and the police were able to track him down.
The scrolling report on the bottom of the screen said the biker chased him down and held him until police arrived.
The Denver Post article said two men on bikes chased the suspect and surrounded him until the police came - the law enforcement officer they interviewed said this was the best way - intervene in a serious crime, but do not jeopardize your own safety.
Which scenario is the true one?
One question I had on all 3 reports was who reported it to the police - the woman's clothing was gone, so I assume her phone wasn't with her. Did the bicyclist or two bicycle riders report it?

Or did the lost dog do it?

My smart watch would be tracking it the whole time, so I could go back and reference it later if I wanted to.

    Just reading this.

It sounds like she did everything right other than having a weapon. She put up a level of fight bad guy wasn't prepared for. Had he been prepared (mentally/physical) she might not have made it.

    Screencaps if you don't Face-CIA-Book...

I still do not understand why we are not executing violent sex offenders. Oh, I know the certain people who think they can be rehabilitated. And I know we aren't even executing cold-blooded murderers anymore.

The round is ~.20. I'll even offer to send it downrange myself to keep the hand wringer's conscious clean.

Of all the things that our society has room for that aren't needs, violent sex offenders is not one of them. Agree with Skip on this matter.

Too bad the guy who detained him didn't pull a Chicago: "And then he ran into my knife. He ran into my knife ten times!"

Predators don't need a battery powered ankle bracelet to track their whereabouts when they're 6 ft. under. "Yep, still there."

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.
