Default Custom Window Well Covers - anyone in the Springs buy them?

It's time to dig out my window wells and put in new rocks (pea stone sized versus current larger gravel sized) and get window well covers for them.

There was a guy who used to advertise @ the gun shows here in the Springs (I have his flyer somewhere) who made custom metal grate window well covers for about $250/ea for security and for a bit more would add slanted plexiglass over it to allow water to slide away from the house/window well.

I've been thinking of getting these for 2 years and after today's rain/hail causing minor flooding in my basement through the window wells, I'm motivated to take action.

Has anyone here, particularly in the Springs, bought these? Pro's? Con's?

Does anyone on the site make these professionally and service the Springs?

Marking this thread, I am also interested in window well covers, I’m tired of cleaning out dead bunny’s every spring.

Well covers are important for keeping water out of the wells, especially since damage caused by a flooded well is excluded from every policy type I've ever worked with.

I know you're asking about metal, but I've seen some very well done covers made out of stained 2"×2"s. As long the windows aren't too enormous, you can stand on 2"×2"s just fine. Either way, I'd still get the covers like you're planning.

My one window well catches a rabbit about every other year.
Where is the fun if it is covered?

Rabbits are fair game and good sport for my anti rabbit device.
I’m talking little baby bunnies, 4 of them this year. They are always dead & bloating when I notice them.

I keep getting ground squirrels. Released one. 4 days later, I had 3 dead ones in the other well.

Next time I'm at Home Depot, I'm going to investigate the well cover display they have up front. They looked decent.

I used these, fully adjustable. Added a piece of 3/8" plexiglass to keep the water out.
