Default Yet another exploding target wildfire

The Sharps Fire has burned 35,000 acres in just 48 hours, east of Bellevue Idaho. More shooters ignoring fire bans. It's illegal from May 10 to Oct 10 to use exploding targets or tracer ammo. Why are stores even selling this stuff in the West?

Don't fault the stores. Fault the shooters. Anyone living in the West knows fire dangers are a fact of life and we, as shooters know this fact. Silly for anyone to think that shooting tracer rounds or exploding targets during the summer in dry conditions or fire bans is not without serious risk. I cannot think of any rationale reason why you would shoot anything that has the "potential" to result in a wildfire.

I carry rake, a shovel and a fire extinguisher when shooting in the NF or BLM lands. I call the county and FS and BLM to ask if there are restrictions.

This is simply stupidity. Can't fix stupid. I Shot once all summer, because of fire ban. Ban lifted a few days ago. I'll head-out later this week.

I'm at our farm outside Palisade where we're adjacent to BLM land and shooting area. Almost all of my neighbors are hunters and shooters. Most of us don't mind the shooting (I'm going out to shoot today), but all of us hate the damn exploding targets. We've all seen fires head our direction from the shooting areas and we all have bullet holes in our houses. The exploding targets, especially when multiplied jar and rattle our windows and more.

Right now Mesa County is still open to shooting on BLM and private lands but exploding targets are prohibited due to fire restrictions. The sky is very hazy and gray, max visibility is ~7 miles due to area fires.

Worse for me is that the Cabin Lake fire in Rio Blanco County is burning through my hunting camp where I've hunted elk for 30 years. It seriously sucks. I hope they get it under control soon.

Just another example of stupid people ruining it for the rest of us. This is why we can't have nice things. I sure wish stupid people didn't like things that went boom.

I love reactive and exploding targets for long distance stuff... but one must use their brains and be aware of weather conditions and neighbors... There really is no available excuse for most of these fires beside people being stupid.
