some coverages don't automatically kick in. I've seen it take some time depending on the agency. Mainly it would be for LODD where the family loses a significant form of income. Generally the officer is still earning pay, as stated above, while injured.

Additionally if the spouse has to take off of work and lose income people may donate for that I suppose.

It's kind of crappy to question why someone would want to donate anyway. Want to do something that makes you feel good and that someone else might appreciate? Go right ahead. Should probably be more of that in the world anyway.

The news tonight said he was 'stable' but still critical; and another channel said he was 'holding his own'.

I so hope and pray this is one of those Officer Injured stories that ends happily.

Didnt see it mentioned, isn't this the multiple conviction winner who was supposed to be deported to Iraq...

Things have gotten better. But our immigration courts are a joke. They act about how backlogged they are, but I personally had a chance to hang around the courtrooms for the Denver Fed courthouse. In any given week they seemed to only actually have judges there seeing cases 2-3 times a week and 2-3 cases each tops in a day.

Saw one guy for deportation proceedings get told his case was delayed/rescheduled..... 2 years from that day.
