Default Bow and arrow in the backyard in Colorado Springs?

Does anyone know the laws for shooting a bow and arrow in my backyard in the middle of the Springs? Best I can find is El Paso county laws against reckless discharge of a firearm or shooting a bow and arrow; but I wouldn't be reckless. I'd have a target and backstop.

    Thanks.

No helpful info but yea it can be sketchy if someone wants to be a dick. We shot out in the backyard under 20yrds so people couldnt really see us before. There is the whole within 1/4 mi of occupied building thing too.

Dunno about the Springs, but The Rock city laws say you can't shoot/discharge firearms/weapons in the city limits. Bow and arrow was considered a firearm/weapon when the officer had a nice chat with me. If I ever find out who ratted me out I'll make sure they get a nice breeding pair of prairie dogs for their troubles...

Can’t recall where I found the information, but I remember that it’s illegal. Crossbow is too.

Many municipalities don't allow paintball either. Aurora says no airsoft either, per news story a while ago.

This is the real reason why archers wear full camo.

Well this is disappointing, I guess I won't be buying one any time soon. I'll just have to stick to Duck Hunt

Right there with you brother. I have a beautiful Cabela's compound by BowTech and can't find time to get to the range to shoot it. Thing is, last I knew Memorial Park has an outdoor archery range. Last I checked, Memorial Park is withing the city limits...but because it's set up by the city it's exempt from the law.

I learned all about the ridiculous CS law several years back when my son was nearly arrested for shooting airsoft in a nearby park with his friends. Almost got tazed (really, VERY close to getting tazed..guy put his hand on the weapon) when I calmly and politely asked if the law they'd just read to me included 5 year olds with Super Soaker squirt guns because it technically meets the same definition. In actuality, if someone wanted to press the point, discharging a squirt gun in CS CAN get a child arrested (unless the law has since been updated).
