Default Chronic Wasting Disease experts on Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan had guys on that were a fantastic eye opener. I used to go back and forth with my concerns about CWD. This makes me much more concerned. They even talk about the scientist and wildlife pros being ignored because of politics (surprise). This is a good listen for folks that don't hunt too. About half the states have it and we even exported it to Asia. Worth a listen for sure.

I've read that where wolves are at the top of the food chain, they do an effective job of culling the critters with CWD out of the herd. Apparently with CWD they make poor decisions fleeing from predators which make them easier to take down.

I thought about posting this in the hunting section earlier today. Unfortunately I listened while working so only half heard it.

I thought about posting it in hunting too. Truth is it effects non hunters too. And they touch on what a prion is. Lots of discussion on managed hunt farms too.

I haven’t listened yet but Any chance CWD is also linked to liberalism/socialism? I feel like they make extremely stupid mistakes but our society allows them to survive the wolves....

Well, probably not, but it certainly didn't help that the Park Service kept RMNP closed to hunting for a century, forcing high concentrations of deer and elk in tundra, aspen and lowland habitats. The NPS has presided over an ecological catastrophe in the park due to adherence to a preservation standard that wasn't founded in science and historic reality.

But muh paid hunters with night vision and thermals so they don't wig out the tourists with daytime kills! How will these individuals survive if they can't get PAID to hunt and area that most people would LOVE to hunt and pay to do so!?

As we harvest mule deer and elk this fall, where can we take the heads to be tested, even if not required?

Hunting is a public service, no one should be paying for tags. I'd be taking coyotes off my back deck if I could and posting pics on Nextdoor.

Maybe showing their safety card to make hand wringers feel okay about it is the only thing that should be necessary. Basic rules, gear, maybe high limits, etc... But the state should welcoming all hunters.
