    There is actually a company that does Duramax conversions on Suburbans. They even have a cute name: Duraburb. Duramax engine + 6 speed Allison transmission.

    Unfortunately, AFAIK they only do it on the heavier duty 2500 Suburbans, mine is a 1/2 1500.

    Down in Florida. I’m familiar with them and watched a few of their videos. They will do the 1/2 ton Burb but it isn’t optimal. I just figure if I was going to go diesel with a Burb I would get the most simplistic, bulletproof engine that is widely available. If I had the money and could find one, a Mercedes OM606 would be another strong choice.

    Avis has a F-150 for $504/week. Wonder if you talk to a dealer if they would let you take an extended test drive of a newer used model.
