    Default Fishing license woes....

My sixteen year old nephew is in town for a visit and wanted to buy a license. It turns out that to do so you must first open an account with CPW. This in turn requires some form of state ID. So far my nephew has been able to get through life with his school ID. Has anybody else run into this? If I call the help line is there a workaround? I'll try anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Are you trying to buy one online or at a retailer?

Yeah, online or retailer? I would go to a retailer. Is he just buying a day pass or a year pass?

There is a new system in place for hunting/fishing licenses and also for making reservations for camping at State Parks. You basically have to set up an account and get issued an ID number that goes for any state-issued license or reservation you make.

In the old, and the new system, I have always used my DL for my kids that did not have a state issued ID.

Went with someone who got a day pass about a month and a half ago. Bought at Wal-Mart in a few minutes with an out of state id. Not sure on how they work with minors

I would tell your nephew that he is 15.

Go to a retailer. Instead of Identfier search, have them do a Prfile search (name, birth day). He will also need his ss#.

That's what I figured. This incident happened Sunday while he was with my Dad at Ridgeway State Park. They were referred there by a local retailer who didn't know what to do either. Evidently the nice ladies at the counter tried several things to get around the ID requirements with no luck. As he's never needed a license there was no record of him. They figured that they could call someone and have an answer if it weren't Sunday. My nephew will be around a few more days and may have another chance for some fishing later this week. I've been pretty busy the last couple of days but figure I'll have time to call tomorrow.

That was my suggestion as well.
