    Arrow Another Glock value/collectible question

So I check the threads that refer to kind of what’s collectible, valuable concerning Glock pistols mainly just out of curiosity. I have a few, like them and will continue to keep them. But I recently acquired a Glock 17 Gen 2 with the original Tupperware box, one LE/Gov marked magazine and think it’s pretty cool. For that fact it’ll probably hang out in the safe till I get tired of looking at it or want something I’ll shoot and not store which is what usually happens. So my question I pose to you all is this. Does a Gen 2 Glock 17 with the original box in excellent condition actually hold a higher value than the norm of that 400-500 range? I’ve never owned one and seeing the case it originally came in I thought “this is exactly why they called them Tupperware guns, the case makes it”. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Its a crazy market right now. In a normalish market I'd say your correct but not right now. I saw a gen2 g19 in Tupperware on Cl about 6mo back for $425, I'd hold on if you can and wait for the next panic.

The resale on used Glock’s is in the tank right now.

Unless you find someone that wants that specific early gun, it is just a used Glock.

x3. It is still a pretty cool package with everything you have there, though.
    Obviously not a golfer.

My knee-jerk reaction is no, especially in this market where brand new state-of-the-art Gen 5 (lulz) Glocks are sitting at a discount unsold.

From a collector's standpoint I'd say you would have something if it were the Gen 1 with everything you mentioned & a low serial number as I think those will go up in value in the years to come. It may be a while if ever that a clean Gen 2 goes up in value & it may never reach any significant value in our lifetime. Glock was never a limited production item and the idea was the exact opposite which makes it even more difficult to have exclusivity that adds to value. While I personally wouldn't pay a premium to have what you have there I would certainly hold onto it if I got a good deal on it and have it in my collection just because.

That's just my opinion worth exactly what you paid for it.

Just curious, would anybody here pay a premium for a cool serial number?

Depends on what you define as "cool serial" number. I wouldn't pay a premium for some random serial number I felt was "cool" but, historically speaking, collectors items that are serialized tend to bring a premium the lower the serial number which tends to indicate earlier production which tends to be more desirable and therefore draws a premium as a collectors item.

Personally I wouldn't but I've seen others that point that out in a sales listing. I think they're just trying to market their item to make it more desirable as I don't know anyone personally that would pay extra for a specific serial number unless it were a very special number for some reason. That also doesn't mean that others with $ to buy don't think opposite of me on this subject either.

CA, NY, MA, CT, NJ, DE to name a few states that gun could possibly can bring a premium. Considering it was something that was mfg before 1999, 2000 whatever knee jerk laws happened. I know what i've sold my documented LE trade in Gen 1 & 2's for to OOS buyers. Figure with FFL transfer fees you should pocket $350 easy.
