...if my wife can finish in the kitchen.
The neighbors, a retired couple, are joining us on a 3, maybe 4, day camping trip over the Magruder Corridor Road. It winds through the Selway Bitterroot and Frank Church River of no Return wilderness areas. 110 miles of primitive road and primitive camping.
My wife seems to think we're heading off on some sort of extended expedition with maybe 100 or so people to feed. If a freak snow storm traps us til next spring I have no doubt we'll come out when the now melts having gained a substantial amount of weight on the food she's prepped. We got into an argument over having enough cooler space. She said we had plenty, I said we needed at least one more. Well, even I underestimated her ability to over-prepare. I did, however, buy two more coolers because they were on a wicked sale at Sportsman's Warehouse over the weekend.
So now we need both of the extra coolers. Seriously...we're not gonna even touch most of the stuff she's cooked and the other stuff she bought. She came home from the grocery store yesterday with her 7 reusable bags and 9 store bags...all for the trip with the exception of some frozen orange juice.
My suggested list consisted of: coffee, coffee pot, smoked salmon, (neighbors are bringing) steaks, potatoes, onions, bacon, eggs, jerky, apples and a few little snacks. Plus the normal camping utensils and such.
She's made at least 3 different kinds of cookies, potato salad, 2 different fruit salads, regular salad, two different kinds of bread plus two packages of rolls, egg salad, chicken salad, sauces for the salad, brats (that's a pretty good call), and I can't even begin to remember what else. And most of that stuff is packed in Tupperware. Oh, yeah...we still have all the stuff from my list.
The only good news is I'm probably gonna need a bigger truck so I'm gonna head down and check out the new F-550 before we leave.
