Wow, I did not know they made semi
Same license plate as this one: Tesla Semi shows up at a track with pro-driver
It's a prototype making the rounds.
On Thursday, the electric truck prototype traveled another 580 miles or so and stopped at Tesla’s Supercharger station in Brush, Colorado.
During the weekend, it was also spotted in Denver and yesterday, it was at an unknown test or race track location as per pro-driver Emile Bouret’s Instagram"

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.

I'm thrilled for the idea of them 6 deep bumper to bumper (drafting) when I'm trying to merge onto I-20 (Tesla's vision... I can't wait to see how good their collision avoidance is with merging traffic)

For the record, I have nothing against working collision avoidance.
I am extremely wary of any plans to "convoy" trucks close enough to have significant aerodynamic advantage.
If you've driven I-20 between Dallas and Shreveport in any GCWR under 15k, you'll likely know what I mean.
If you disagree, look carefully at accident statistics involving Semis on that route.

I completely understand and agree with you. I do most of the diagnosis on the collision mitigation systems in our shop, just last week I had a Truck that would slam on the brakes when ever it went under an over pass less than 14’. I worked with engineers and ended up adjusted the forward radar downward less than 2 degress to stop it. They are very touchy systems.
Convoys are illegal for a reason, even as the song glorifys them.

Yeah, they want to change the law... for "green" purposes. As an engineer, I understand the motivation... efficiency.
But as someone tasked with seeing "the big picture" of implementation (for many years my primary title was implementation engineer). My focus has always been on reality- where the rubber meets the road (figuratively, but sometimes literally)
If they succeed in even testing convoys on public freeways, I could make some predictions how it will go.
