Default Trail/game cameras-a little help please

Ok guys and gals, I'm in the mood for a trail/game cam. I have done a bit of reading, but I would like the opinion of those that have actually used them. Which ones should I look at getting, and which ones should I avoid, and why?

    Thanks

Be aware that any camera which remotely/wirelessly transmits pics/video/data means you cannot hunt the area that day or the day after. SD cards = no problem.

Editing in the pertinent portion for folks who cannot view easily on mobile:

ARTICLE IV - MANNER OF TAKING WILDLIFE

    ...

    E. Live-Action Game Cameras

    1. No person shall use a live-action camera to locate, surveil, or aid or assist in any attempt to locate or surveil any game wildlife for the purpose of taking or attempting to take said wildlife during the same day or following day.

    2.
"Live-Action Game Camera" means any device capable of recording and transmitting photographic or video data wirelessly to a remote device, such as a computer or smart phone. "Live-action game camera" does not include game cameras that merely record photographic or video data and store such data for later use, as long as the device cannot transmit data wirelessly.

I wish some of this stuff was made more public other than hidden inside a 110 page document.

    Thanks for posting it!

    Stealthcams produce some nice results.

I have browning and bushnell. They seem to be okay.

I currently have 3 different models of Moultrie cameras. All of them work well, and battery life is excellent if you aren't taking video. I had an old model Moultrie fail on me 3 months after the warranty expired, a 550i model I think. Moultrie gave me 40% off a new order, up to $300.

My neighbor has Muddy, Browning, Moultrie, and StealthCam cameras up. The Muddy is starting to fail, and is the hardest on batteries. All of them take good pictures and have been reliable. The high end Moultrie cameras appear to have better colors than the others, but you wouldn't know the difference if you didn't set them all up on the same tree to test them side-by-side. I know that doesn't help much.

My cheap, no frills, A-7i Moutrie works well, takes reasonable pictures, and is insanely easy on batteries. My 990i Gen2 takes better pictures, clear and with good color, but I never use the video or timelapse features. Next time I might buy 2 of the cheaper models for the same cost.

Watch for Firmware updates for whatever camera you choose. The Moultrie 990i went through batteries quickly when I first got it, taking thousands of pictures of nothing. I updated the firmware on all the cameras and that behavior went away.

afterhthought - I prefer the non visible flash for night photos.

I use the cheap amazon camo one. It has a screen on the inside to view footage. Good photos and video and has date, time, temp, and moon. Think they are like $50. Have been easy on batteries too

the footage without the temp and time and other info is a more expensive cam I got from cabelas. Which was almost twice the cost of the amazon ones.

I bought a cheap amazon one as well. Does what it needs to and I won't cry if it gets broken. Has held up well to rainstorms and the pictures are decent.

I have a Moultrie and an happy with it. I use it to catch humans doing larceny since my vehicles have been hit twice in the last 4 months in my driveway. Great HD pictures, No red glow at night, and batteries last a long time. Also I got the "No Glow" kind so people cannot see the infrared light from the camera.

Pretty much don't matter a whole lot. The PD has yet to come pick up my Videos captured or take any fingerprints of where they touched my vehicle without gloves. Ohh well.
