I chuckled a bit. Looks like you kind of crowd the rear sight like I did when I had my para FAL. I ruined a pair of Oakley’s last time I took mine out. The rear sight would just kiss the lens on my sunglasses. Didn’t notice it while I was shooting but when I was done the right lens was all scratched to hell. Fortunately for me a member here was kind enough to get me some replacement lenses with his law enforcement discount so I was able to save the glasses.

Mine had the fixed stock so maybe it technically wasn’t a para model?

Back in the early 1980's a local shop acquired about 50 or 60 FN made FALs. They were selling them for $600 each and they were like new. I went to buy one but they were so heavy, I passed. Of course, now ...

I have had my nose kissed by the Para too. Honestly I think the stock is all wrong for me, and its turned the FAL into a love hate thing for me. Does not help the para has a giant steel block at back of reciever.

One learns the ins and outs of them. I have built dozens and owned 6 at one time. I also have what is considered the lightest one ever built. All aluminum 5.8 lbs and shoots the 7.62X25 round. I have my metric gun that I love. The best comprise is a DSA aluminum lower, type 1 upper and 18" barrel with the right furniture is a good setup that is a few lbs lighter and comfortable for most.
