Default Does anyone other than me enjoy NIMS classes? (sarcasm, I dont)

I am having to take a bunch more fema classes. Im sure at least a few of you also have to. Do you like them or is it just a dreaded requirement to you?

Its not that I dont get anything out of the classes, it just that in my little world its going to be pretty rare that I use the knowledge in real life. I do learn things, and its nice to have more knowledge. I have a hard time with spending that much time staring at the computer and trying to pay attention enough to pass the tests.

I find most on-line training to be tedious. The NIMS courses were about as tedious as any others.

I have always been more of a see, show, DO type of learner.

Seems to me that studying for, and taking any kind of test generally kind of sucks....but when it's mandatory/work related, it feels like it sucks a little more.

    IMO.

    NIMS Training

The National Training Program for National Incident Management System (NIMS) has developed a common national foundation for training and qualifying emergency management/response personnel. Adequately trained and qualified emergency management/response personnel are critical to the national implementation of NIMS. The NIMS document describes the National Integration Center's (NIC) responsibility to develop "a national program for NIMS education and awareness", and to facilitate common national standards for personnel qualification. The NIMS Training Program was mandated by the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act of 2006. The NIMS curriculum is managed under FEMA by the Emergency Management Institute (EMI).

    The good news?
"NIMS credentials are earned by students, trainees, apprentices, employees, and military personnel nationwide and around the world. By earning NIMS credentials, these individuals secure a competitive edge when applying for jobs because they have demonstrated that their skills meet the industry established standards. And NIMS credentials never expire."

NIMS was kind of boring. I learned in the classes, but it was rough going. I took my Fire Office I class last week in Pueblo for the National Fire Academy. It was a little boring, but I did learn a lot.

Im guessing that you also had to take the National highway institute classes too. At least those had some interesting and scary traffic videos.
