    Default Recent state office debates

Got invited by a lawyer friend to the AG debate this past week between Brauchler and Weiser. Hoo boy, no surprise but Weiser came across as just another wacky liberal college prof. Everything he said came down to what he believes, not necessarily what the law states. Uh yeah, not what the job requires. Brauchler (full disclosure I know him a little, don't socialize but run into him quite a bit) came across very solid, no surprise, can be a little brusk at times but damn solid. I don't always agree with the decisions he's made but definitely for me the right man for the job. I especially appreciated his candor when he said he disagreed with AG Coffman suing Boulder County over it's fracking restrictions. Early on he nailed it when he said there's a move among both parties to turn the AG into an extra senator or assistant governor.

Watched the debate between Polis and Stapleton Friday. To me Polis came out even whackier and far far left than I thought he was. Stapleton needs some image help. Not a great public speaker, for that matter neither is the chcken shit asshole in the office now.

Quite a few times it was like two little rich (which they are) kids shouting at each other. For me it got especially annoying with Polis refusing to answer the direct questions (again, no surprise) but the most irritating point was when the topic of tax returns being released and the blind trusts that each of them have. I DO NOT like multi-millionaires running for and being in public office, both of these guys rub me wrong and it'll be the lesser of two evils at election time-Stapleton. Hopefully he'll get some help and can learn to get his point across in a cohesive and competent manner.

For you folks in Arapahoe County pay attention to the Sheriff's race. Wachler is the only one that should be in the office of the three (the third party guy is particularly worrisome, seems he just wants a public office somewhere for his agenda; unsuccessfully tried for a city council position and then mayor in Aurora). I've heard concerns voiced that the city of Centennial may cancel it's contract for l.e. with Arapahoe if either of the other two guys besides Wachler get elected. That could mean a job loss for the SO with no guarantee of being hired for the Centennial PD if one were to be created.

There ya go, just one grumpy semi-old guy's take on things. My head always hurts just a bit more this time of year.

Thanks for the info Doc, unfortunately I don't see any way that Polis DOESN'T get elected. I haven't seen too many political signs at personal residences in my area, but we drove through Denver on our way to the Zoo last week, and the place was just littered with Polis signs, not a single R candidate to be seen, and unfortunately, like always, Denver and Boulder will represent the whole state.

Yep. My husband & I make jokes about being the mythical anarcho-capitalists surrounded by Stalin worshipping communists. We've nicknamed them all Boxer. If comrade Polis says it, it must be right. POIT!

I too suspect Polis will win, but I wouldn't use the lack of Stapleton signs as a measure because lefties have come so unhinged that many Republicans won't put signs in their yards for fear of the vandalism that will inevitably follow.

The problem with political debates at this point is that both parties are so far apart there's no place they can come even remotely together to debate the issues since neither side agrees on the nature of reality and you have to have some common agreement to start with to build your debate upon. Otherwise its just two desperate positions, miles apart shouting obscenities at each other.

I truly don't understand how anyone could be "undecided" at this point long before the candidates were announced even.

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

One new thing I learned today about Stapleton (listened to his long interview on Colorado Public Radio) is that he’s a huge fan of jazz, plays trumpet. He needs to improve his musical friends however as he goes to Dazzle with both Hancock and ‘Looper.

A little off topic of the debates, but a question I can't find an answer to. Jason Crow claims in one of his commercials that he was an Army Private. I can only find where he was in ROTC in college, did a couple of tours in Iraq, was a Captain in the Rangers with a Bronze Star and was in the reserves for like 4 years.

Not a military guy myself, but wonder about the being a Private thing. Doesn't seem right. Cannot seem to find the answer online.

Just saw the ad. States he was a captain, Ranger. He said something about remembering what it was like when he was Private Crow, not Captain Crow-don’t remember what it was in reference to.

According to his website he joined the National Guard to help pay for college, then got involved in ROTC, went active after graduating, 82nd Airborne, deployed. At some point he went to 75th Ranger Regiment, got out in 2006.

IMO, Polis is a forgone conclusion for CO.

It sucks, but CO is blue, and is only going to get more blue, as far as I can tell.

Just as long as 112 doesn't pass...

    Amendments

V - NO - Most millennials can't spell amendment and I sure as hell don't want some shit-for-brains just-out-of-college puke sitting in the state congress making laws - the age limit should be raised to 40
W - YES - Makes it easier and faster to vote NO on judges
X - NO - I want the state to remain separate from the feds on hemp; we need an amendment like this forcing the state to honor The Constitution which the state agreed to prior to becoming a state
Y - NO - any time we read " Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission" you can bet it will be staffed with communists (or for the sensitive types - democrats)
Z - NO - any time we read " Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission" you can bet it will be staffed with communists (or for the sensitive types - democrats)

A - NO - Criminals should be treated like slaves
73 - NO - they'll just spend it on more bullshit like trans-gender faggotry and more money for admins and union scum
74 - YES - the state should be paying market value for property that the state wants to confiscate from a citizen - I kinda think they'll run eminent domain tho and avoid this in any case

    Propositions

109 - NO - They already steal 22 cents per gallon of gasoline and there are more people buying gas in CO than ever before - they don't need more money - they need to spend the money they're stealing now more wisely
110 - NO - They already steal 22 cents per gallon of gasoline and there are more people buying gas in CO than ever before - they don't need more money - they need to spend the money they're stealing now more wisely
111 - NO - If you're dumb enough to take a payday loan you SHOULD have to pay whatever interest you're charged, maybe the state could tell Visa and M/C that they can't charge more than 2% over prime rate on their credit cards
112 - NO - Fuck the motherfuckers who got this on the ballot
