Default Political Analysis of the bad behavior at the range video.

I know a lot of you don't like Rob Pincus, but he makes some good points in the second part of this video. That part starts at 7:28.

What an idiot (guy at the range)!!!

I don't think I've seen his other stuff but I though that was a good vid! Good questions/thoughts.

I think training is important but people (gun control advocates) pretend it's a 100% solution in hopes of putting up barriers. It's not always the answer. We've all seen "that guy" and some of us even in the mil after hours of training where mistakes are very costly.

In spite of all the comments at YouTube, I think this was handled very well. This kind of stuff probably happens with some frequency and range owners don't post the videos.

I think it would be smart to keep (and maybe share?) a blacklist and document why a person is on it.

I've trained with Rob along with over a half dozen other instructors. He, hands down, without a doubt, puts more thought into his training methodology than any other instructor I've learned from. That's not speaking bad of the other instructors, some of them are experts in their field and VERY good, but Rob digs into the "why" better than others. I think he puts that same thoughtful consideration into his opinions regarding the politics behind gun ownership and pro-gun advocacy.

I know many ranges ban people for infractions. That's not uncommon. But Rob's right in that we may be losing a potential pro-gun advocate in those cases. Or even worse, passing up an opportunity to TEACH an unsafe person gun safety. What happens if this Yahoo buys a gun, heads out to the woods and points the gun at his buddy again tomorrow? That's a tragic thought.

But instead, what if the range temporary bans him with the condition that if he wants to come back then he has to take one or multiple classes. Heck, the first safety class could even be discounted to encourage him to actually come.

Maybe he stays a dumbass. But isn't it worth a shot to fix his dumbassness?

A student had a ND in a class I took with Rob this summer. It was mostly downrange, but in the dirt directly in front of the student as he was shooting a solo drill. Rob did not go easy on him. In fact he embarrassed him pretty good. But he didn't send him home. Hopefully that student learned something very valuable that day.

Thanks for posting this up, it will help me and maybe I'll be able to help some other people.

On occasion I have to RO a large range and I haven't considered putting "hands on" a person who is grossly violating the range rules like those 2 knuckleheads. Now, I go early, as in sun-up, so I don't see very many people and I leave when it starts getting busy but this video and Rob's and hollohas' comments are important to consider.

He's kind of a relentless self-promoter, and has a tendency to write things on facebook that are pretty clickbaity.

If there's nothing wrong with having to show an ID to buy a gun, there's nothing wrong with having to show an ID to vote.

For legal reasons, that's a joke.

I've done hands on correction during an event. The ones I did had a lot of new shooters so they needed help and occasionally somebody tried to do something they shouldn't when I stepped in to stop it. My RSO training went through a lot of different scenarios so I'm confident with hands on correction if needed. However, the RSO roles and range SOPs were well defined during the safety briefings so the shooters were not at all surprised by our actions, and they mostly appreciated the feedback. I get nervous at ranges or shooting areas that don't have an RSO especially when there are people there who have no clue. I can't say I particularly enjoy approaching somebody without a role defined in the SOPs (especially informal shooting areas with a lot of people), but some people are just ignorant and would be better if taught something better so I agree with the point this guy is making in the video. I have a fiend who is really good at approaching people who need help whereas I'm mostly annoyed by them.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Another one making the rounds—suicide. Doesn’t appear to telegraph it at all.
