    Default Belgium Technician Destroys F-16

    Well...I'm guessing there will be a job opening for this guy. I'm willing to bet how this happened. Guy was probably the only one on the tarmac when he slipped into the cockpit of the plane. Decided to start jamming to "Highway to the Danger Zone" when he got a bit overwhelmed by the moment and then...BRRRRRRRRRT. Although, I'm wondering if the story is true, as I am unaware if an F-16 is capable of firing while grounded.

    Yes F16s can fire on the ground. Doug Masters did while saving his father.

    Wait, why were there live rounds in the plane in the repair bay? Is that normal? Seems odd to me that the ammunition would not be unloaded when the aircraft was being serviced.

    FWIW when I was in Afghanistan an Apache helicopter on the ground fired a hellfire missile across the tarmac at BAF. Fortunately nothing was hit and I don't even think the missile exploded.

    Holy crapola! That would scare the crap outta me. Not to mention that was an expensive woopsie. Not as bad as the guy in this article, but still no bueno.

    Make sure you guys keep your F-16s pointed in a safe direction.

    My favorite part of the article;
    The Belgian Airforce confirmed the incident at the airbase, and said that two mechanics were being treated for hearing loss caused by the blast.
    Was probably pretty easy to tell who did it. They were yelling during normal conversation and couldn't hear a damn thing.

    And this is why I never liked sitting in the plane. And we had fission bombs.
