CZ 75 Compact anyone ?

Does anyone own or have owned a CZ 75 Compact that are willing to give me honest options ?
I am thinking of changing my carry gun to one of higher capacity until I can get a handle of the double vision that my stroke so kindly given me.
Changing from a 1911 carry to one like the CZ 75 Compact.

I've had the following: CZ75 Compact, Several P01s (including Euro po-surp), two P07s, and full size CZs of various makes. I've also owned a P10C but that's a very different animal.

The CZ75 compact is a great gun, but it's heavy, and I'm a lefty so the lack of decocker kills it for me as I'm not going to be able to easily de-activate the safety when carrying it cocked and locked. The latter issue is allieviated by the CZ75D (here's one on GB at a fair price for a well used one https://www.gunbroker.com/item/787220338)

The P07 (I had the Urban Grey Suppressor Ready models) is another excellent gun, but polymer if that makes a difference to you. It's also a big larger.

The P01 is the one I'd roll with. Fantastically reliable, has a light rail, excellent trigger, allow frame, and with the standard great trigger.

Your biggest issue across the board is going to be the aftermarket, you can find good holsters, and there are good sights, but everything will be harder to find. If you're cool with that I'd say go for it and don't look back.

Even with CZ being heavily used in competitions, aftermarket stuff is still difficult to find? Is that more for the compacts than the full sized stuff?

One of the attractions for me is the all steel construction. A decocker is not a make or break item, but the model I was looking at didn’t have one. I know I will have to adjust, but 2x rounds of a 1911 will give me enough rounds to hit both the targets in my current double vision.

I have become a CZ fan boy with my collection doubling since this pick was taken. I have both the P07 and a PCR. The P07 (3rd from left) I if feel is very Glock 19ish size wise but of course it is DA/SA hammer fired gun vs striker.

My PCR (2nd from left) is a great little pistol. It has a alloy frame which makes it alittle lighter than the all steel models and std mags are 14rds. Feels great in hand ! A lot of people bash the stock triggers but they do tend to get better with rounds fired.


Would going from the 1911 platform to a DA/SA platform be a issue for you ? I have been putting in a lot of time this past year working on this system and have been pleased with my progress with it !

For a while I EDCd a full size CZ75 SA and it was just fine, the P01 or PCR will be lighter and carry much nicer though. And if you like I believe you can convert them to SAO with factory parts.

Ifn I was going to EDC a CZ and money no object, I'd drop the coin on a SPHINX SDP Compact.

Unfortunately money is a concern, and I am hoping that I can get my vision to straighten out eventually So, the CZ 75 Compact and a decent holster will be the only investment I am willing to make at the moment. I am sure with practice that I can adapt to DA/SA.

I have a EAA Witness Elite Match (a CZ clone) in 45 ACP, it is SAO and I shoot it very well (at least I did) but it is just a battleship to try and carry.

I?ve backed off on buying new stuff lately but if I stumbled across the right deal on a PCR I?d likely pick it up. I?ve had three full size CZ models and every one of them was a tack driver. I have smaller hands and my Sig P226 is just a tad large in my hand. While I love that pistol I?ve contemplated selling it and replacing it with a CZ as they fit my hand like a glove.

You don't have any trouble reaching the slide release without changing your grip?

Nah. I don?t mess with those fiddly little levers anyways. When you jump around as much as I do between different makes, models, and styles it?s just easier to give a little tug on the rear of the slide because it works on all of them.
