Default Anyone have Blue Shield health? Like it?

Our company was acquired this year and we're just getting word of the benefits changes for Jan 1. We've been on United Healthcare forever, which has been outstanding for us. But . . . that's going away. Sucks. It's being replaced by Blue Shield (CA). The only other option is Kaiser, which I will never go on again if I can help it.

Anyone in the south metro area have experience with Blue Shield? Decent facilities and options and all that? Would be interested in any general feedback. United we had amazinf flexibility in where we could go. Hopefully it's not a step backwards.

We have Anthem BlueCross BlueShield at my work (what it says on my card) so I am assuming that is the one you are referring to. In general, I have no complaints. I have never had an issue with finding a good doctor in their network and never any issues with payments, co pays or the like. I am generally pretty healthy and only have to see the doctor once or twice a year for strep or viruses etc but they have always covered most of my prescriptions with little out of pocket from me. I am not married and have no kids and pay roughly $50 per week for health/dental.

Just found out about it today . . . so not sure if it's Anthem or not. It's written under Blue Shield (CA) since that's where HQ is, so maybe Anthem BCBS is that offering out here? I'll have to find out more info. Today was kind of a sneak peak for a small audience so I don't have all the details yet.

Well I logged in and the Anthem website has a cross and a shield at the top of the web page. Mine is Blue Cross when I log in. As far as that goes my wife says that we like it...I like the price at work, super cheap- 40.00 a month for family. I walked into a urgent care place a couple of weeks ago, didn't have to pay a dime and the final bill was like 80 bucks for the negotiated rate. Prescriptions are cheaper than United(what I had as well previous to me switching jobs) Is it a HDHP?

Always liked BC/BS when we had it. Have Kaiser now and have NO complaints, but my wife is a union employee with Kaiser and the employee bennies are awesome! Have had several major surgeries with NO cost whatsoever, copays are $10, prescriptions are $5, can't beat it.

But yeah, we always liked BC/BS.
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

Kaiser is the other option . . . but I had a couple bad experiences with care under them many years ago and it really soured me on ever going back to them barring having no other option. So I need to get more information on this Blue Shield option before we need to sign up in a few weeks to see what that might look like. Really sucks losing UHC after all these years but I'm stuck with what we can choose.
