It's actually not the wolves per se. It's that the wolf reintroduction was very controversial because raising livestock and subsistence hunting are very big in the region and people who make their living that way feared the wolves would negatively impact them. People see the ungulate populations dwindling pretty rapidly in areas where they've historically been very strong and many blame the wolves. I don't know enough about it to really have an opinion either way but I'll admit I tend to side with the wildlife...usually since they didn't have a say in the matter. I'd love to see a wolf in the wild, though.
