I hate this kind of shit. Ms. Rand is another one of the useless, liberal hand wringers who fail to understand handguns are not responsible for shooting deaths. Criminals are.

If we were to apply her logic to other areas we would find the following:

General Motors/Ford/Chrysler and their unrestricted sales of powerful, fast performance vehicles are responsible for street racing deaths. Honestly, why does anyone need a Camaro, Mustang, or Charger. These vehicles serve no "sporting" purpose and should be, at a minumum, tightly regulated or restricted to law enforcement only...

Concerned citizens group demands immediate ban of all matches, lighters and gasoline cans as these tools of destruction make it all too easy for arsonists to perpetuate their crimes. These things have no place on our streets. Diamond Match, Bic, and Eagle storage containers have innocent blood on thier hands and they and the sellers of these items are responsible for many, many, deaths in this country

These are just two equally ridiculous examples that spring to mind. I'm sure I could think of more. The one thing all "banners" fail to realize is making something illegal never makes it unavailable. No law ever causes people to act responsibly. No city anywhere in the world has ever been made safer by restrictions on the private ownership of firearms. Just ask the English, the Australians, Chicagoans, or New Yorkers.

One last point, I 've never been anyplace where I felt I needed to carry a gun more than I did when I visited Chicago.

I have a few that I trust and will leave unsupervised outside of the safe. The rest can't be trusted on their own...they stay locked up. It's for the children.

Thats odd, My friends are encouraged for us to have their kids since owning guns. I send them home knowing operation, cleanliness, functionality, and safety and fullfill un parented curiosity.
