    Technically, if you're working in Colorado there's a presence there... could an individual get away with pretending their income is in another state the company is in? sure- but good luck if you're audited.

    The short answer is that a 1099 will be filing taxes similar to a business... quarterly payments, etc... you're not an employee but a contractor.

    I'm not an accountant- I won't be responsible if you make any life decisions based on this...

    I'll say first that I don't support this, but there is something in here that would benefit us childfree folks.

    Current federal law mandates you can keep your job if you need to take time off from work to care for yourself or a loved one if they are sick or just gave birth. It does not, however, mandate you should be paid.
    When a family member is sick or a new baby is born, employees could then request benefits from the state.
    Obviously the wording of the actual bill could be different, but it seems to apply to FMLA or sick leave as well.

    Those buzz words translate to: Once you've exhausted all PTO, sick days and any comp time. Sounds like a loose form of workers comp.

    For all those that think that any of the Family Leave, single payer, etc are good ideas... (maybe a DEM is reading this).

    Here is a direct effect. I have 2 to 3 engineering positions I was going to fill this year. Not any more.

    I have to expand my manufacturing operations. My manufacturing orders went up 10X for Q2 2019. I will hire a few extra people but not many.

    Basically, DEMS have added to much uncertainty with respect to employees so until the dust settles, I try not to hire. And I have interviews with two engineers this morning. I have not decided if I will fill the open positions.

    So, the direct result is less hiring.

    I will shut down my Classic car restoration operation here and do all my work from my AZ shop. I don't need this crap. Four employees will be let go or have to move to AZ.
