A naked Olympics would be cool. I would go watch that. 100 metre trangender sprint should be interesting. Add the bong breath holding competition. Winner gets to be POTUS for a day, minus the nuclear consent codes of course. You folks really think you will be alive in 2030? LMAO

By then I may still be alive, at least I hope so but I have no idea where I will be living.

But, you just know that the corruption and graft associated with bringing the Olympics to Denver with be epic. I hope they get caught.

I'm interested in knowing more before saying No off-the-cuff... but I will admit it's been a disaster for some cities.

Gots to plan for the future.
Selected for 2030 Olympics, and it will be here tomorrow.
Maybe hire Mitt Romney to organize it.
    He did good in Utah.

Yes, probably all of them. CO dodged a bullet when we said NO for the 1976 Olympics.

Peter Boyles had a guy on this morning who has studied the history. The historian was of the mind that the Athens Olymipics played a major role in driving Greece into its current economic crisis.

The Olympic Committee will say and do anything but in the end Denver would be stuck with the bill and Denver will make sure the entire state helps them pay the bill. That means that people who derived NO BENEFIT from the shitshow would have to pay for it.

And they want to extend the tax to pay for maintenance.... when they 1st ran the story with cost vs number of years, I did a simple math calc. They could fund it by adding a $15.00 surcharge to each donkey ticket. Assuming 8 games per year. Could be reduced significantly if you divided it up by the total number of tickets sold at the stadium per year or added $0.25 per food and drink item. Let those who go to the circus, pay for the tent.

As for the games, why not. 3 weeks of renting my townhouse out for $5,000+ per week. Get a huge insurance policy or require them to have one. Could easily move all my valuables into a uhaul truck or storage unit. Take a 3 week vacation.

Gouge the tourists like a true capitalist.

The state can host the games while building zero infrastructure. We have plenty of ice rinks from Colorado springs to ft Collins for all the hockey, speed skating and dancing.

The western stock show complex and convention center can he transformed into dorms.

Ski resorts are already equipped to handle all skiing events.

Use the donkey stadium for opening and closing the circus.

Build temporary structures for ski jump and sledding.

    What else is needed?

I would vote no! on any tax or new debt for the games. It's a billion dollar industry that can pay it's own way. Tickets and vending should be enough to pay staff, security and transportation.

No need for new debt, as this is a temporary stimulus. It wont increase future tourism to Denver or the state, we are not SLC. And we are already overwhelmed with tourism.

I have heard the expected crowd in Denver is similar in size to the stock show.

    So yes, bring it.
