Great. Now you?ll need a special sign explaining things like ?minimum labor charges? or something.

I would have just told the donkey you work flat rate and installing a barrel nut pays you .3 hours. I imagine him and his woman would have been tied up for days trying to wrap their heads around the concept of flat rate labor and even more days correlating that .3 hour charge into an actual shop rate.

Actually, I probably would have politely invited him back, loosened the barrel nut , handed him $25 and told him to have a nice day.

Jeez, amazing. He probably votes socialist.

I see that crap all the time though. Similarly, my wife is a veterinarian and there are a lot of folks that think her time and resources should be free.

Ruh Roh, one start Google review coming in 3, 2, 1....

I was purchasing an OEM wall mount for my new TV and SMH while reading 1-star reviews from people who bitched when it didn't fit their model TV, when the description and MFR info CLEARLY states what models it does and does not work with.

I?d gladly pay $25 for a qualified person to twist my nuts. Some people?s children.

Had this happen all the time in the automotive world.

?You charged me two hours labor and I was only here for an hour? type of people.

They don?t see all the times that the book pays two hours and it took four or five the first few times. We even got to the point where we would ?sit? on the car to avoid these conversations. You should have asked if he called around to see what others charge and their turn around time. I think the refund idea would have been awesome to take it off and send him on his way.

Most customers don't have a clue on the cost to run a business. Their $25 for five minutes is $300 per hour...over $600,000 per year and that's all they see. Rent, heat, tool costs, un-billed time and so on are items they have no clue on.

It sounds like they had a little attitude about the whole thing when they clearly received great value for their dollar. Too bad for them, it sounds like they lost a source for help.
