Lewiston was just named as the #1 retirement location in Idaho. It's obvious why. Everything needed to sustain life is located in Lewiston in about a 1/3 mile stretch of a single road:
Everything I need to maintain the dogs, house, property, tractor, other machines and vehicles, plus other necessities like guns/ammo and underwear:
Home Depot
North40 (like a Murdoch's on steroids)
Sportsman's Warehouse
All the cheap but useful Chinese shit I'll ever need:
Harbor Freight
Food:
Panda Express
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Red Lobster (for those special occasions where upscale dining is warranted)
Hydration:
State Liquor Store
And when I need other food necessities like bacon and oranges (to combat scurvy) there are two groceries stores inside the same close radius.
If I can't find the basic building blocks of life at those places right next to Sportsman's is:
Staples - for computer stuff (to connect to my Amazon Prime account)
There are 2 or 3 assisted living/care facilities within Rascal Scooter range of all these places, too, though they're a block to the east of the main drag.
A person could actually be born, grow up, go to school, get a job and then retire having lived a completely fulfilled life and having never even heard of IKEA and never traveled more than a mile from home.
Amazing.
