Any shoot a Remmy 740, 742, 7400?

Thanks for the responses... anyone else.

I figure for the price it is the same as a H&R single shot. 2MOA is sufficient. Heck my CETME didn't even do that as a battle rifle.

Mags arent that expensive and you can still find cheap(er) 30-06 ammo.

I'm thinking of making it a cheap tactical with synthetic stock and ghost ring sites, maybe a holographic site.

Got anybody else's wheels turning?

I had a 30-06 7400 with synthetic stock.
Bought 10rd. (Eagle?)plastic mags-not very reliable.
Korean ball was too long to function properly. I had wanted to get some AP, but figured it would have the same issue.
Barrel could fry an egg after a 10rd. blasting. Seemed dangerous.
Never shot for accuracy at long range, but felt comfortable with its capabilities.

I have a 742 in 30-06 which the wood stock cracked, so I will be putting a synthetic on it and fixing it up for one of the kids first elk gun. I have a few thing to do so it will be a bit more accurate, but it will make a fine first rifle and something that if dropped and busted, I wont have to hurt them.
