Default USPS: Next Time Try a Regional Rate Box

Maybe someone, maybe everyone, on here knows about this but I discovered it not too long ago.

The USPS offers what are called Regional Rate boxes. You can't get them at your local post office...you have to order them in packs of 10 or 25 but they're free and will be delivered to you with your mail. They come in 2 sizes, "Box A" and "Box B". They can be almost 1/2 the price of flat rate boxes depending on what you're shipping and how far it's going. They're meant to be used for shipping relatively short distances and at relatively light weights (A is limited to 15 lbs, B is 20 lbs). You must pay for/print your labels online at USPS.com to get the best price. A surcharge is added if you pay at the PO.

    Just an example:

I shipped 2 boxes containing identical items. One in a Box A, one in my own packaging from a used box. The used box was slightly smaller but weight was the same...1 pound 14 ounces. I mailed them both from my home to Bailey, CO addresses.

    Box A = $8.15
    Other box = $9.85

Mrs BG shipped several that were $8.15 for the Box A and would've been almost $13.65 for a Flat Rate box.

    Here's a pretty good comparison: https://online-shipping-blog.endicia...regional-rate/

It's the time of year when we ship a lot of packages and even a few dollars here and there can add up to a significant amount.

I had no idea! That's actually really useful to me as I ship a lot of stuff and USPS is my favorite service. Thanks a lot, BG!
